THE STANDARD

Who else feels this reluctance to throw dirt in a neat place or ease to drop dirt where they are other dirt?

Just yesterday my dad was furious when he found some waste that aren't ours in the pit we dug at the back of our house go burn dirt.

There's this human tendency to treat things the way they are. If a place is dirty, it seems like less of a sin to add to it(moreover nor be dem start am). But if a place is neat, it becomes a greatest sin to litter it.

Though, not everybody follows this rule, most people do.

It was wrong for the person (whoever it was) to have dumped his refuse in our pit, but he most likely wouldn't have if he hadn't seen other waste there. So we decided to start disposing our waste like everyone else rather than burning them, before our compound turns into a refuse dump.

Dearest reader, just in the same way, people also tend to treat others how they've seen them treat themselves. Set the standard, treat yourself with respect and others will not dare mess with you.
