DO YOU THINK IT'S EASY TO FAIL?

"Success is a lousy teacher, it seduces smart people into thinking they can't fail", Bill Gates.

My coach would often hammer on how both failure and success are merely just outcomes, yet these outcomes aren't 100% product of our efforts given that they are several factors which are out of our control that contributes to it.

While, success if boldly displayed, failure is often masked. If you plan for something and it does succeed, you'd be quick to call yourself a genius on that note whereas if it happens to fail, you'd quickly blame it on ill-luck.

My UTME was just Saturday here and the results aren't ready yet, so when people ask me how the exam went I just say I don't know. I wrote same exam last year, came out of the hall with all smiles and the mindset that the lowest I'd have is 250+, so I was loud about it. Unfortunately, when the results were out I didn't do as well as I had thought I did and I ended up blaming it on ill-luck.

You could do exact same thing and have different, opposite outcomes irrespective of the effort charged at it. We often overlook the side of sheer luck in our outcomes, if it's positive, we claim we worked hard on it, if it's negative we claim the universe is against us.

Dearest reader, do you think it's easy to fair? Ask a computer scientist who could create a whole chain of codes and fail just because of a single dot, he will tell you how similar success and failure are. It's not easy to fail, failure is just as hard as success.
