THE UNEXPECTED JOURNEY HOME.
I was heading home late today, already contemplating how to explain my reason to my parents. As I closed my eyes, enjoying the breeze from the motorcycle, knowing I was in for a battle when I get home.
However, upon opening my eyes moments later, I realized the motorcyclist had taken a different route, one I had never passed once in all my years on that road. Panic set in immediately, triggering memories of a near-kidnapping incident a few months back.
Soon I gathered courage and asked the motorcyclist why he had chosen an unfamiliar path. He explained that policemen were patrolling the main route. Oh, the relief I felt when we returned to familiar territory was heavenly. I completely forgot about my lateness, overwhelmed by the joy of safety.
My previous experience with a motorcyclist taking an unfamiliar route had left me deeply afraid. This thought me that experiences shape our responses and behaviors.
Dearest reader, believe it or not, our past experiences greatly influence who we become. I never imagined I would develop trust issues, even after choosing an elderly rider. I used to be carefree, but an experience changed that.
