LIFE IN A YEAR...

I'm still unable to fathom my love for sad movies, why do people love sad movies?

How I'd prefer to watch something that shatters my soul, making me cry my eyes out, is just crazy kinda weird.

Anyway, after crying over the movie, "Life in a Year" all over again, it just occurred to me how strangely the movie was designed to appeal to my emotions. Certain people would watch the same movie and not shake, yet even after watching it for like 5 times now, it still made me cry each time.

When we watch movies that make us cry, what happens is that we happen to forget for a moment that it's just a movie. Good movies are carefully crafted to engage us and be deeply absorbing.

They transport us into the world of their characters: to see as they see, feel as they feel, and even totally identify with a character in some cases. We know movies are not real, but we are so engrossed that we emotionally react as though they are.

Dearest reader, it's actually a strength to cry over a movie, more than it is a weakness since it shows that you're in touch with your emotions. But don't watch too many sad movies, it could mess up your head.
