BE AN ALL-ROUNDER.



Today at work my boss came back from where he went to looking depressed, I was forced to ask him what was up with him. 

"Nigeria has failed us, and is still failing us", he lamented. This was a profound statement, so I requested for more details. 

As I listened, he told me of how he met a secondary school classmate of his driving commercial bus for a living. He explained that back then in school this guy used to be a genius, they would usually compete for first and second place. 

It broke his spirit seeing someone that intellectual not doing so well. For myself who's someone who loves academic intellect more than anything, it dawned on me that it isn't a guarantee of success. 

There are different types of smart. Dearest reader, you must be an all-rounder, because whether you like it or not life happens and will continue to happen to us all. 

So yes, it's good to be book smart, but it's never enough. To book smartness add street smartness and to that add several others

TEAM WORK

It can be quite frustrating when a collective effort results in only one person receiving all the praise. Even if my contribution is just 1%, it shouldn’t be overlooked. You never know how these small efforts can make a significant difference. My bubugaga is back from school, and today we did a lot of tidying up. It’s amazing how I suddenly find the energy to work when she's around, despite my usual laziness. After completing so much work, we took a break—we were honestly worn out. Fast forward to the end of the day: everyone applauded her for a job well done, as though it was solely her effort. It felt off because I felt I deserved some recognition too—it was teamwork, after all. So, the point is, you never know how hurtful it can be when someone's effort goes unacknowledged.
