FREEDOM IS BLOODY.

I watched a movie, "Harriet" that mirrored the story of moses leading the children of Israel. Trust me, this movie nearly brought me to tears.

I knew it was a movie yet it felt so real. The path to freedom is bloody, to be free you must set your mind to either die trying to be free or be free.

When we say 'slavery' people often feel it's being in chains and suffering hardship under a master, but really slavery is more than that. Largely it's an habitat.

Some of us are slaves to our habits, repeatedly abiding to certain unhealthy traits, while others feel they are tyrants, using fear to steer actions from others but in actual sense they are more of slaves.

"2 Peter 2:19 They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption, since people are enslaved to whatever defeats them". Another version says, "You are slaves of whatever controls you".

What are you allowing to control you?
If there's something you are addicted to, then you are a slave to that thing, for it has defeated you for it to be an addiction.

Looking at it from this perspective, we can say we are all slaves. Are you slaving for Christ or for pleasure? Our consistent behavioral patterns mirrors who we slave for. You have to pick your poison and not choosing is also choosing.

"Romans 6:18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness". This should tell you that slavery is necessary yet what or who you are slave to is essential. I have a friend who is addicted to knowledge, he can't go a day without learning and at first I thought it was impossible but with time I saw how this crazy habit turned him into a lunatic at times.

Those who reject Christ in favor of the world are ''enslaved'' by their own sins. No matter what they may claim, such persons prove their spiritual condition by constantly returning to their moral filth.

The fight is to be free from slavery of our selfish desires as we cling to becoming slaves of righteousness. And it ain't going to be easy, if you've suffered an addiction you will understand this very well, the path is daring death but with God it's possible.

"Fear is the enemy", Rev Green. A slave's greatest weakness is fear, it used against him by the tyrant and it makes it almost impossible to seek freedom.
