ONCE A WRITER...
Often times we quote popular opinions without reasoning. Today in a bid to encourage a friend, I quoted, "Once a writer is always a writer", and instantly I thought of how wrong it was.
Some of these popular speculations are not always correct. After saying the above quote to my friend, I immediately questioned myself, "Who is a writer?". A writer is someone who writes, the moment you stop writing, you stop being a writer. Yet, you don't have to write daily to be a writer.
Same goes for a student. A student is one who studies. You are what you consciously and decidedly do, not what you say you are or will do.
You stop being a thing if you stop acting according to the design of that thing. In school, the design implied is that every student must study consistently. Now, consistency is another concept people tend to misunderstand.
Being consistent isn't, 'Doing daily' but instead it is showing up when you said you would. A student can decide to study once a week, every Saturday and if he keeps to it, he us being consistent in studying and that makes him a student.
Dearest reader, you consistent habits defines you, what are your consistent habits? If you are constantly lying, that makes you a lair right?
Over time not doing a thing can make you lack the ability to do it. I grew up in Kwale(A town that commonly speaks Delta igbo), when we relocated to Ughelli(A town that speaks Urhobo), due to the inconsistency in interacting with Delta Igbo, it became hard for me to understand the language. Now, I can barely speak the language due to lack of consistency.
Once you backslide from a thing, it becomes a little harder to re-start.
