IGNORANCE IS NOT AN EXCUSE.

Ignorance they say is a disease. What you don't know is greater than you.

My elder sister is a 200lvl Microbiology student at Delta State University(Delsu). Whenever she comes home for a holiday, she tells me funny, interesting incidents that happened in school, so I look forward to her every visit.

Some weeks back she was home and she told me a funny story I would love to share with you. It was about something that occurred in her department, there is one other department, "Medical Biochemistry" that would usually ridicule them by calling them "micro-organisms".

They happened to be a beauty pageant and Microbiology representative won against medical biochemistry representative. Out of jealousy, the Medical biochemistry representative said to the microbiology representative, "When it was raining brains, you had an umbrella".

To everyone's surprise the microbiology representative blushed and replied with an "Awwwn". This was so funny, and since then, the other departments had more grounds to insult them.

Now, why did I share this story?
The microbiology representative had no idea what the statement meant but assumed it to be a compliment, maybe if she had given it time before responding or asked what it meant she would've saved her face.

The truth is, we can't know everything
We simply cannot. But it is pride to not ask when you don't know, because ignorance is not an excuse.

During my secondary school days, I represented my school in a couple of quizzes and one thing I learnt was that they can't teach you all things. "We have not be taught" is no excuse, you are expected to know.

You may laugh at the microbiology representative yet if you don't take the lesson, you might repeat same mistake in another way/form. Don't say never, according to Snr Vwede "No one is a monopoly of knowledge".

Merry Sunday 🥰
