"I have issues with memorizing." ~ X

I've always been like, "I'm horrible at memorizing," because well,,, I was. I'd rather understand a concept than memorize it because memorizing never really worked for me. My brain had failed me too many times whenever I tried relying on it, so you see that "la cram, la pour"? I no dey do am.

But here's the irony, I memorized my debate argument so well it felt like I had internalized it, and that honestly made me pause for a second because, how now? Shey I wasn't bad at memorizing?

That moment reminded me of something I once read about how we become what we've accepted about ourselves. Maybe I was slow at memorizing, yes, but there I was completely writing myself off because that's what I had come to believe about myself. And the crazy thing is, what you believe about yourself slowly becomes your reality.

Dearest reader, what's that one lie you've been telling yourself about you?

Assumption is the lowest form of knowledge, so don't assume things about yourself. That assumption you made about yourself could just be the very thing limiting you.

Imagine someone concluding they are not good enough without even trying in the first place?

Sometimes we're too quick to write ourselves off. Give yourself grace. Give yourself time. You may just be like me, someone who could actually memorize but had already concluded they couldn't.
