WE ARE ALL ENTITLED
Yes, you, me, and everyone walking this earth has that small entitlement streak. Some people have it in tiny doses, some in moderate form, and some do not even look like they have it at all. Then there are the extreme ones, the ones whose own is on another level entirely. And honestly, that is normal. There will always be people who take things to the extreme.
Now, what does it really mean to be entitled?
People often describe it as feeling like you deserve something or should get what you want without earning it, just because of who you are.
But do you know entitlement works in two directions?
Case 1: “I am very important, so I deserve this.”
Case 2: “I am nothing, I have nothing, I am pathetic, so I deserve this.”
Different words, but the same mindset.
Like Mark Manson would say, many of us act like our problems are special and deserve special care. That right there is entitlement.
Dearest reader, most times we do not even notice it. But it is there. And there is something freeing about getting to that place where you say, “wait, nothing about my problem is special and nobody owes me anything.”
The truth is, you are not having the worst version of life. It can still get worse, and somebody out there is currently dealing with what you cannot imagine. Funny how life works, right?
Like my boss would always say, “if everyone were to drop their problems on a table, you would pick yours and walk away.”
So carry yours with grace.
